Generated STEP file has only 1 kb size on a released item in an Upchain tenant

Issue:

Generated .step file is faulty on a released item in an Upchain tenant. When using the Download feature in the Translations section of the item in the Upchain Web App or plug-in the downloaded file has only 1 kb size or less. As the item is in Release status no available actions can be take to replace it. 

Causes:

Something went wrong with the translation process on translations server.

Solution:

Work-around:

  • Create new version of item if this is an option for you. New .step file generated during the process should be healthy.
  • Use APIs to gather information about file locations on Vaults and then to replace faulty files on those locations with healthy ones.

NOTE: Healthy .step files can be created manually using standard CAD tools locally on a PC by opening the model in the CAD tool and saving it in .step format.
