Issue:

How to install the Autodesk Network License Manager for 2019 products in Windows.

Solution:

Installing the 2019 Autodesk Network License Manager is similar to previous versions with two key differences:
  • The new version is 11.14.1.3.
  • The default installation directory has changed to C:\Autodesk\.
First, retrieve an updated license file. Instructions can be found here.

Download the latest Autodesk Network License Manager version from here.
  1. Run the license manager installer. By default it will install to the C:\Autodesk\ folder.
  2. Create a new text file and call it debug.log. Copy this file to the license manager installation folder.
  3. Copy your license file to the license manager installation folder.
  4. Run the LMTOOLS icon from the desktop or double-click the LMTOOLS.exe file in the install folder.
  5. On the LMTOOLS window, access the Service/License File tab.
  6. On the Service/License File tab, select the “Configuration Using Services” option.
  7. Check the “LMTOOLS ignores license file path environment variables” box.
  8. Access the Configure Services tab.
  9. In the Service Name drop-down list, enter a name for your license service. “FLEXlm Service 1” is the default. Best practice is to change the service name to something like “Autodesk licenses”. It will be more recognizable in the future if you are troubleshooting Windows Services.
Note: Only have one service for all Autodesk products. Do not separate Autodesk products into multiple services. If there is more than one software vendor using FLEXlm for license management, this drop-down list may have more than one option. For information about using the FLEXlm license management technology to administer licenses for more than one vendor, see Combining Autodesk with another vendor's products already using FLEXlm.

In the Path to lmgrd.exe file box, click “Browse”. Navigate to and select the lmgrd.exe file. Click “Open”. By default, this daemon is installed in the C:/Autodesk/ folder.
  1. In the Path to the license file box, click “Browse”. Navigate to and select your license file. Click “Open”.
  2. In the Path to the debug log file box, click “Browse”. Navigate to and select your debug.log file. Click “Open”.
  3. Check the “Start Server at Power Up” box.
  4. Check the “Use Services” box.
  5. Click “Save Service” and click “Yes” to accept the changes.
  6. Access the Start/Stop/Reread tab.
  7. Click “Start Server”.
  8. Access the Server Status tab.
  9. Click “Perform Status Enquiry”.
  10. Scroll through the list and look for "license server UP", and licenses should now list as available.
