How to design the connection with gusset plate and tab plate in tube diagonal in Advance Steel

Issue:

Is possible to model the joint with the tab plate on the square tube with a gusset plate in Advance Steel?

Causes:

Lack of dedicated steel joint in the connection vault.

Solution:

  1. Model the gusset plate by any other type of connection for two diagonals.
  2. Delete the joint symbol and unwanted joint parts like plates, bolts or processing on the diagonal parts.
  3. Use Tube to plate connection joint for each diagonal separately to achieve the requested design of the connection.
  4. Set optimal defaults for the connection and copy between diagonals if necessary.
