Issue:

How to engrave V-formed complex pattern on a cylinder surface in Fusion 360

Solution:

To engrave pattern on a cylinder surface in Fusion 360:
  1. Create a tangent plane on the cylindrical face.
  2. Sketch the pattern on the tangent plane.
  3. Switch to the MANUFACTURE workspace and create a setup for the multi-axis machine.
Note: The WCS will need to be placed at the center with X along with the rotation.
  1. Because the Engrave toolpath does not allow for 4 axis wrapping to a cylindrical face, use the 2D Contour toolpath. Select a chamfer mill. If using a spot drill, create it as a Chamfer mill with a very small tip diameter in Fusion 360.
  2. Select the sketched pattern for the contour and the face to engrave on as the wrap cylinder.
  3. Switch to the Heights tab and use "selection for the bottom height and select the wrap cylinder. Use the desired depth of engraving applying a negative offset.
