Issue:

How to have a dynamic leader arrow with a horizontal landing for Ortho annotations in orthographic drawings in AutoCAD Plant 3D?

Solution:

Perform the following steps:
  1. Open the Project Setup of your project.
  2. Navigate to Plant 3D DWG Settings - Plant 3D Class Definitions - Piping and Equipment - Pipe Run Component.
  3. Select the ortho annotation that you would like to modify from the bottom right.
  4. Press Edit Annotation, set the ortho annotation to not use leader and press OK.
  5. Press Edit Block.. to edit the block of the annotation.
  6. Select the annotation and set the Justify Middle Left.
  7. Type LEADER on the command line.
  8. Set the leader direction with the horizontal landing that you desire.
  9. Enter the annotation option as None.
  10. Choose the Point parameter and select the intersection of the leader and landing.
  11. Choose another Point parameter and select the arrow of the leader.
  12. Choose the Stretch Action, and select Position 1 and select area of Position 1 with the attribute of the annotation.
  13. Select the attribute of the annotation, Position 1 and leader in the specified area and press Enter.
  14. Choose the Stretch Action, and select Position 2 and select area of Position 2 with the arrow of the leader.
  15. Select the arrow of the leader, and Position 2 in the specified area and press Enter.
  16. Choose the Basepoint parameter and select the Position two point.
  17. Choose the Move action and select Position 2, its point and press enter.
  18. Choose the Flip parameter and select the Position two point.
  19. Put the Flip state somewhere at the top, and move its arrow to the top too.
  20. Choose the Flip action and select the axis which is drawn
  21. Select everything and press enter.
  22. Go to Position 2, right-click on the Move icon, and select Modify Selection Set.
  23. Remove the Flip state from the selection and press enter. Now the Ortho annotation should have a dynamic leader with landing.
Note: These steps should be done for all the ortho annotations you would like to have use this dynamic leader.
