Issue:

How to join solid bodies or components together when constructing a model in Fusion.

Bodies in tree browser

Solution:

To combine bodies in Fusion:

  1. Click Design > Solid > Modify > Combine combine icon.
  2. From the Combine dialog, select the Target Body.
    1. Components cannot be selected, the bodies within components must be used.
  3. Select Tool Body or Bodies.
    1. If the bodies are located in different Components, the result of the Combine will be created in the Component that contains the "Target" body.

  1. In the Combine dialog, set the Operation to Join. The additional options are explained here:

  • Join combines bodies into a single body.
  • Cut removes the volume of Tool Bodies from the Target Body.
  • Intersect retains just the volume created where the selected bodies overlap.
  • Check New Component to create a component as part of the operation, where the new body will be located.
  • Check Keep Tools to keep the original Tool Bodies after the bodies are combined. If unchecked, the bodies will be deleted as part of the operation.
  1. Click OK.

Note: If the two bodies to be Combined are not overlapping, either Move the bodies to an overlapping position or create an additional body that overlaps both of the bodies.
