Issue:

You want to replace a family in a project with one of a different name

Solution:

1. In the project browser, under Families, right click on the family you want to replace and choose Reload...
2. Navigate to where you have the other family saved and select it.
3. Click OK. The old family will be overwritten with the new family, and the new name will appear in the project browser.

NOTE that if the old and new families are different sizes, or have different insertion points, the new instances may not be in the same location as the original instances. It's worth opening the old and new families first to make sure the insertion points are the same for both.
