Issue:

How to share the AutoCAD Mechanical Content Library to a different location, like a network drive?

Causes:

By default the AutoCAD Mechanical Content Library is saved in this local path:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\AutoCAD Mechanical <version>\ACADM\Gef\Gdb

Solution:

Follow these steps:
  1. Open File Explorer and switch to this path: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\AutoCAD Mechanical <version>\ACADM\Gef.
  2. Select folder GDB and copy it.
  3. Paste it to a network drive.
  4. Optional: If some custom content is saved outside of the standard path above: Copy the content directly below the netword drive in step 3.
  5. Open the options in AutoCAD Mechanical and switch to tab "AM:Content".
  6. Click button "File Locations...".
  7. A dialog pops up. In field "Path information file" browse for contentlib.xml in the network drive, sub-folder GDB of step 3.
  8. In field "Standard content configuration file" browse for database.cfg in the network drive, sub-folder GDB of step 3.
  9. In the table "Custom Content" below change the path for the sample content  to <network path of step 3>\sample library\samplelib.gdb.
  10. For further custom content click one row below for "Click to add library", pointing to the network path of step 4.
  11. Close and re-start AutoCAD Mechanical.
