Issue:

Unable to edit Inventor Custom Content Center (CCC) Library.
Is not possible to publish a component to the CCC library and the library is set to Read Only.
When moving to a newer version of Inventor the remapped folder on the server that held the Content Center (CC) data libraries now shows a custom library as Read Only.

Causes:

  • User Permissions.
  • Network permissions.

Solution:

The default local Widnows path for the Inventor Content Center libraries (IDCL files)

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Inventor 20XX\Content Center\Libraries
Where XX is the Inventor version.

Check Windows Permissions

Symptoms:

  • Unable to publish CC.
  • Custom Content Center Library is set to Read-Only.
  • Windows user is unable to edit a file in location where the Libraries are stored.

Test:

Run Inventor as Windows Administrator (Note: not all Windows administrators have access to specyfic locations). If all will work, that something is with Windows permission.

Edit permission:

Work with your IT Administrator to check Windows permissions for a location (local or network) where the Content Center files are stored.
Note: Permissions need to be added to the folder, not only to the IDCL files.

The most common steps to change Windows permissions:
  1. From Windows explorer, right-click on the folder:
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Inventor 20XX\Content Center (default path of the Content Center Libraries Folder).
  1. Select Properties.
  2. Go to the Security tab

  1. Select Edit... button.
  2. Select the User.
  3. Add user "Write" permission

Example of permission incident:

  • A previously joined AzureAD was logging in with email credentials (Azure account). The account was set as an admin but there was incompatibility with that type of configuration.

Other steps to check:

Vault Content Center Library

To edit the Vault Content Center library contact your Vault Administrator to add Vault user permissions.
