Issue:

Customer is using InfoWorks ICM 2024.4 or above and has existing simulation results they want to manually create the new cache trace result files to improve performance of graphs and statistical reports.

Environment:

Infoworks ICM 2024.4

Causes:

Initial ICM design transference type of file has a different architecture creating delays when downloading large files from remote locations.

Solution:

A command line utility is available to generate the trace cache files for existing simulation results. The command line utility and arguments are as follows erftracecreate <pathtoiwrfile> --create

As an example, a simulation with the following result files:
sim99.iwr
sim99.2dr
sim99_1.iwr
sim99_1.2dr
sim99_2.iwr
sim99_2.2dr

Could generate the following files:
sim99.iwrt2
sim99.2drt2
sim99_1.iwrt2
sim99_1.2drt2
sim99_2.iwrt2
sim99_2.2drt2
sim99.iwrt3
sim99.2drt3
sim99_1.iwrt3
sim99_1.2drt3
sim99_2.iwrt3
sim99_2.2drt3

After running the following in Command prompt:
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\InfoWorks ICM Ultimate 2024\erftracecreate.exe d:\somepath\sim99.iwr --create

Note: the utility should be run where it has good connectivity to the results files as it will need to read all of them for the simulation. The utility will load each file into memory so the machine on which it is run must have sufficient free RAM for largest file, likely to be at least 2 GB.
