Issue:

In setting up a common location for content center files, it now shows I have no libraries available. Including my custom library.

Causes:

Library folders assign in the Application Options, Content Center file has no libraries.

Solution:

How to move Inventor Content Center libraries to a common location.

  1. Open Windows Explorer and browse out to your common location or folder. All the files should end with a (.idcl) filename extension.
  2. Using Windows Explorer go to the default location of the Inventor Content Center library files. Which is C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Inventor 2022\Content Center\Libraries and copy all the files to the folder created in step 1.
  3. With all the libraries copied to the new common file location. Open Inventor and go to Tools, Application Options, and Content Center files tab.

           Application Options for Content Center

  1. Change the location to the new common folder created in step 1 and where the copies of the Content Center libraries are.
  2. In, the Inventor project file dialog box under Configure Content Center check to see that you have all your libraries.

Note: The steps above are for setting up the Inventor Content Center Library so that the Content Center Editor is not empty when placing a part. Once a part is inserted, it is stored under the Content Center Files folder, which can be found under Folder Options in the Project File editor. Detailed instructions on how to set this up can be found in the article: Missing Content Center files after upgrading Inventor or opening assemblies.
