Issue:

How to set up the permissions for an AutoCAD Plant 3D collaboration project?

Environment:

Version 2021 and newer.
BIM 360 or Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)

Causes:

It is possible to set up the permission for each project folder separately.

Solution:

Follow these steps:

  1. Switch in the browser to the BIM 360 or ACC project.
  2. Switch to the Document Management.
  3. Select the project folder. You will see three dots at the right.
  4. Click the three dots and choose from menu "Permissions".
ACC BIM360 permissions click
  1. Set the specific permissions.
    • Tip: Use roles. See link in See also.
    • The project admin has to have full permissions.
    • To open a collaboration project in AutoCAD Plant 3D, the permission "View and Download" is needed as a minimum.
    • The permissions set here, are inherited to the project subfolders but can be overwritten there.
      • For example a P&ID drawer needs to have full access for subfolder "P&ID drawings" but for the rest of the project might be "View and Download" enough. Set the permission specifically for each role.
