Issue:

When trying to link a Revit model, some projects, and folders from BIM 360 or ACC are missing in External Resource, although all permissions are set correctly.

Folders in Desktop Connector vs External Resources

The Revit journal may record lines like the following when trying to access the folders:
Collaborate: A360ResourceServerLinkedModelHelper.AddFoldersToBrowseData: Failed to add [Folder]-urn:adsk.wipprod:fs.folder:co.... due to ArgumentException. Folders already added: [Folder]-urn:adsk.wipprod:fs.folder:co....

Causes:

  • The project structure in Document Management BIM 360 or ACC contains subfolders with the same name.
  • User does not have access to parent folder, so two folders with same name show up in same folder.

Solution:

Permissions

  • Give the View+Download permission to the root/parent folder for project members/ roles who cannot see all folders in External resources.
  • If after adjusting the permissions for a specific member/role the behavior is not as expected, remove the member/role from the project and recreate the permissions again.

Rename

Rename folders with duplicate names.
