Issue:

Missing objects from xrefed Navisworks file with Inventor components in it when creating ortho views in AutoCAD Plant 3D.

Causes:

The Navisworks file NWD has too many assemblies and subparts imported from Inventor and the ortho creation engine cannot handle all of them.

Solution:

 Two alternative options:

  1. Use the command VIEWBASE and create views directly from the Inventor drawings into the Ortho drawing.
    1. IAM or IPT files can be selected with this command.
  2. Export the drawing from Inventor to dwg:
    1. Make a copy of the assembly and try to simplify it as much as possible in Inventor.
      1. It might not be necessary to have all subparts in the assembly for the ortho view.
    2. Then click Files and select Export to DWG.

  1. Select to have only Solids and version 2018.

  1. XREF the exported dwg in the AutoCAD Plant 3D model.
  2. Create the ortho views from this AutoCAD Plant 3D model with the XREF.
