Issue:

At install time Revit may display the message that there is not enough drive space and it will not allow you to continue with the installation.

Causes:

Even though a different drive was selected to install Revit to it does not include that drive with the installation of the Content Libraries. Configuring the content to install on a different drive will save about 2.2 GB of drive space.

Based on the system requirements for Revit the installation will need 30-35 GB of free disk space.  The default Revit and Revit Content Libraries installation location is on C:\ drive, but if your system has multiple hard drives you can choose to install Revit or Revit Content Libraries on another drive. Some Revit components (licensing, program dependencies, and so on), will still be installed on C:\ drive, but most of Revit installation content will be installed on the drive you select during the installation.

Solution:

To install Revit Content Libraries on another folder, follow steps:

2022 and later versions:
To customize the path of the Revit content, Create a Custom Revit Deployment. You may also select a different path for the Product and Content using a regular installer.

Note: As with the 2021 version, only the Core content is installed automatically, for extra content use the Load Autodesk Family, or download family content using the instructions/links from the following article: How to download Revit Content

2021:
The Content Path can be configured during the installation similar to prior versions, but instead of specifying each individual folder, the top level path can be customized:

Content Path selection for Revit 2021
Note: Core Content (for example project and family templates) will be installed automatically, but the bulk of the content is no longer installed as part of the Revit installation. 2020 and earlier versions:
  1. Create a folder on the desired drive to store the Content Libraries. (for example, D:\Autodesk\Revit Libraries\)
  2. Choose the local mode for each of the groups, browse, or type the path to the newly create folder and click the append button. This will add the corresponding folder for the groups.
Note: Family Content gets installed to the folder's root.

Revit Content Libraries modify deployment
  1. The Revit installation will now allow you to continue if the remaining drive space allows.
