Issue:

When placing a Filled Region, you may find that elements with a surface pattern specified show through the Filled Region, when the background is set to Transparent and the pattern is set to Solid:
Surface pattern shows through fill pattern region
Note: As seen above, this behavior does not occur in the Wireframe Visual Style

Causes:

When using a Transparent background for Solid Fill patterns, elements below the fill will show through. When these elements take up a large amount of area e.g. floors, roofs, etc. then it may appear that the Solid Fill is not working, or is not working properly.

Solution:

If you do not want the elements below the Solid Fill to be displayed, you can set the background to Opaque.

However, if you want the elements to be displayed, but you want only the outlines, then you can manually override the appearance of the affected elements to turn off the visibility of the surface pattern:

Alternatively, set the filled region to "Masking" and override the filled region surface transparency.
