Slow opening Revit projects

Issue:

Users report that when trying to open a Revit file it opens slowly.
There also appears a "not responding" message.
Revit models are taking 30 minutes to an hour opening.

Status:

Investigation of the incident is complete and a resolution has not been determined at this time.

Additional Information:

Site Designer addin for Revit installed.

Workaround:

As alternative solutions:

  • Uninstall Site Designer addin before starting Revit and loading the file.

  • Disable Site Designer addin.

  1. Locate the following folder: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\[Version].

  2. Rename  Autodesk.SiteDesignerExtension.addin onto Autodesk.SiteDesignerExtension.addin.bak.

  3. Start Revit.

  4. Load the file.
