Issue:

When exporting Revit models using IFC 2x3 Coordination View 2.0, the exporter generates extrusions from some elements, however also BReps for other elements.
Using IFC 4 Design Transfer View, the number of BReps is even higher.
Is there an option to force elements to export as Extrusions instead of Solid/BREPs in IFC Export from Revit?

Solution:

The IFC 2x3 Coordination View 2.0 is trying to use extruded decomposed object geometry per the IFC expectations, but the IFC Exporter cannot do that for all Revit element geometric configurations as Revit allows modeling techniques beyond what IFC's recipes allow for.

Whenever the IFC exporter cannot export something as an extrusion, it falls back to using a more generic mechanism - not IFC4 BReps, but meshes or triangulated objects or similar - representations, that are accepted in the IFC standard as well.
