Issue:

When entering the OLELINKS command in AutoCAD, nothing happens. No dialog window is displayed and no error or feedback is produced on the command line.

Causes:

There are no linked OLE objects in the drawing. There must be at least one linked OLE object in a drawing for the OLELINKS command to open its dialog window.

Solution:

Try one of the following methods:
  • To see if an OLE object is linked, select it, and in the Properties palette, the Type field will be "Linked."
  • To change a nonlinked OLE object to a linked one, delete it from the drawing and reinsert it, making sure to select the "As Link" setting in Paste Special.
    1. Use the command INSERTOBJ > Create from File, Activate the "Link" checkbox.
    2. Then you insert the OLE object into the drawing.
    3. Now you can use OLELINKS to update links
