Revit and/or Advance Steel?

Autodesk Support

Feb 4, 2017

Recently I had a customer ask for a video of the differences that Revit and Advance Steel would give. By all accounts, its not a massive deep dive, but just a quick overview of what you might look at using within each product if you're doing Structural Steel modelling, and perhaps detailing.

Revit does have Connections now, but its only 22 for the time being. Advance Steel has over 200 connection styles. Revit won't be able to automatically make Single Part and Assembly Drawings from the objects in the model, whereas Advance Steel would and does.

Revit and Advance Steel do have bi-directional functionality, but in regards to the Connections, they have to start in Revit first for Advance Steel to synchronise to them, back and forth.
