  5. What settings should I use in the AMD graphics cards?

On AMD® cards: 3D settings are automatically detected and set for the user, so no change is required. However, you should select "Extended" for your Dual screen setup.

  6. What should I know about using NVIDIA SLI mode with MotionBuilder?

In Autodesk testing, MotionBuilder was capable of running in NVIDIA SLI mode (NVIDIA Quadro® FX 4500x2 and 4700x2), but did not show significantly improved operation.

  7. I am seeing visual artifacts in MotionBuilder when using Windows Vista Aero™. What should I do?

You may experience visual artifacts in Autodesk MotionBuilder 2012 when using it in conjunction with Microsoft® Windows Vista® Aero® (desktop composition option). We recommend that you disable the Windows Vista Aero option to avoid user interface (UI) glitches and artifacting. Refer to the instructions in the Windows Vista Aero Feature Configuration section.

You may see occasional artifacts or refresh problems when using the bump map shaders.

  8. How do I disable the Windows Vista Aero Feature on my system?

To disable the Windows Vista Aero feature:

    1. Right-click on an empty area on the Desktop and choose Personalize.
    2. Click on the Theme link (to determine whether you are using Windows Vista theme). If you are using the Windows Vista theme, go to the next step (3) and if you are using the Windows® Classic theme, go to step 5.
    3. Go to the previous window and click the Window Color and Appearance link.
    4. In the Window Color and Appearance, disable “Enable transparency”.

    6. In the Appearance Settings window, select Windows Standard color scheme and click Apply.

  9. What if I am using Recommended or Certified graphics hardware and still have issues?

If you are experiencing display issues not described in this FAQ, you can visit the MotionBuilder knowledge base.

  10. How can I report a problem with Recommended or Certified graphics hardware?
