Managing Autodesk Account teams with BIM 360 subscriptions

Autodesk Support

Apr 5, 2020

Autodesk Account now supports the creation of teams, which give you greater control over subscriptions and users. For example, you can do the following:

  • Organize subscriptions and users according to company divisions.
  • Assign admins to manage specific teams of users.
  • Track renewals to users.
  • Analyze subscription usage by team.

However, setting up teams for BIM 360 is different from setting up teams for other products.

Creating additional teams

A BIM 360 account site can only be linked to a single Autodesk Account team. When you purchase a BIM 360 subscription, a new team is automatically created in Autodesk Account. To create multiple sites, purchase a new subscription with a different contract manager. This automatically creates a new team. You can now activate and link the additional site from the Access Now link in Autodesk Account. See How to activate a new BIM 360 account for a BIM 360 Design subscription for more information.

Adding products and subscriptions to a team

Because a BIM 360 subscription can have only one team and is linked to a single BIM 360 account site, all changes update the linked account site.

Adding a secondary admin to help manage Autodesk Account teams

When not working in teams, a BIM 360 account admin can assign members to projects. But it's different for teams. To assign users to Autodesk Account teams, you need a secondary admin in Autodesk Account. To make someone a secondary admin, see Secondary admins. Initially, the primary admin (the contract manager) is the only one who can add or remove users in Autodesk Account teams for BIM 360 subscriptions.

Moving a subscription to a different team

You can have only one team for each BIM 360 account site. To move a subscription, you must transfer it to a different account site. Also, moving a subscription changes the number of seats available in the previous team. To move a subscription to a different team, contact Autodesk support.
