Autodesk Identity Manager Component update for 2024 product versions

Autodesk Support

Mar 13, 2023

To support the users of applications that integrate with desktop (locally installed) versions of Autodesk products, Identity supplies software development kits that provides authentication and authorization functionality and manage communication by facilitating user sign-ins through default browser. It enables cloud connectivity for secure access with Autodesk cloud services. This documentation set covers the workflow’s new changes and some useful troubleshooting tips.

After installing the Identity Manager setup, refer to the new updates while accessing your Autodesk products described here to handle any exceptional scenarios.

  1. Signing into Autodesk products

While signing into any of your Autodesk products that belong to version 2024 and beyond, a new intermediate screen will appear once you click the Sign In option from the top right corner of the desktop application.

By default, the browser also opens the “Sign in” page as shown below,

  • Enter your login credentials and once the login is successful, it prompts with a “Signed in” dialog box as shown below,

  • Click Go to product button in the above screen to view the pop-up message that allows you to open the Autodesk Identity Manager which will redirect to the respective product,

This completes the sign-in process and ensures that the correct username is displayed in the top right corner. Account details and other information settings can be accessed by clicking the drop-down menu beside the username.

Note: The above sample runs in a usual commercial environment, but the sign-in process may slightly vary for the users who utilize their products in a federal environment. It will include a different URL while signing into the product via the browser and a consent page that prompts to show the user that it’s accessing a U.S. Government information system. Other details are like that of the commercial environment.

  1. Signing out from Autodesk products

Click Sign Out from the drop-down menu to log out from the desktop application.

The above example showcases a normal logout scenario but there are a few scenarios where the desktop applications are automatically logged out with the following cases:

  • The user accesses more than one product using the same system, logging out from one application automatically triggers logging out from the other product. This applies to the product versions prior to 2023 and also versions 2024 and beyond.
  • The Autodesk product is left running in a system for about 30 days duration.
  • For federal users, while accessing the product if they switch between the commercial and federal environments.
