  1. What are the changes that are taking place for Autodesk Insight Energy Analysis and Green Building Studio?

    Autodesk is phasing out Autodesk Insight Energy Analysis and Green Building Studio and replacing it with next generation Autodesk Insight Carbon Analysis. As of April 2nd 2025, customers will no longer have the option to analyze Autodesk Revit and Autodesk FormIt models using Autodesk Insight Energy Analysis and Autodesk Green Building Studio. Effective July 1st, 2025, customers will no longer have access to the models and analysis submitted to Insight Energy Analysis and Autodesk Green Building Studio.

  2. Why is Autodesk making this change?

    Autodesk Insight Energy Analysis and Green Building Studio are being replaced by next generation Autodesk Insight Carbon Analysis.

  3. What is next generation Autodesk Insight Carbon Analysis?

    Next generation Autodesk Insight Carbon Analysis is a cloud service that integrates with Revit to offer flexible dashboards, an intuitive interface, and a simple approach to Carbon analysis that makes it easy to explore, visualize, and compare carbon data and analysis. Next generation Autodesk Insight Carbon Analysis uses Revit's Energy Analytical Model as the starting point for Operational (OC) and Embodied Carbon (EC) analysis. Open and extensible, Insight helps you measure, visualize, and compare the interrelated effects of integrated building systems, including building form and orientation, envelope design, internal loads, HVAC systems, material types and quantities, renewable energy offsets, energy costs and more.

  5. What will happen to the models and analysis data Insight Energy Analysis and Autodesk Green Building Studio?

    Customers must download their analysis data from Insight Energy Analysis and Green Building Studio before July 1st, 2025. There is no automatic data migration provided by Autodesk from Insight Energy Analysis and Green Building Studio to next generation Autodesk Insight Carbon Analysis.

  6. Do these changes impact Insight Lighting Analysis and Solar Analysis?

    No, there is no impact on Insight Lighting Analysis and Solar Analysis.

  7. Key dates for changes to Insight Energy Analysis and Green Building Studio to take effect
    • Effective January 20th, 2025
      Insight support is no longer available via email and requests for support should be made via regular support channels. Here is a public article that guides you on how to get technical support. When prompted for product please select Revit.

    • Effective April 2nd, 2025
      Autodesk Insight Energy Analysis and Autodesk Green Building Studio will no longer allow new models to be submitted for analysis. This will apply to all supported versions of Revit and FormIt. Customers will continue to have access to the previously submitted models to these services. To perform analysis, customers will be required to submit their models to the next generation Autodesk Insight Carbon Analysis from Revit 2023.1 and higher.

    • Effective July 1st, 2025
      Customers will no longer have access to the models and analysis submitted to Insight Energy Analysis and Autodesk Green Building Studio. After July 1st, 2025 customers may request support to retrieve analysis data from Insight Energy Analysis and Green Building Studio and will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.

    • Effective October 1st, 2025
      Autodesk will no longer retrieve models and analysis results from Insight Energy Analysis and Green Building Studio for customers.

  8. What happens to customers on active maintenance contracts for versions prior to Autodesk Revit 2023.1?

    To perform an energy analysis on a model, at least one of the users under the active account will have to upgrade to Revit 2023.1 or higher and submit their model to next generation Autodesk Insight Carbon Analysis.

  9. What happens to customers on active maintenance contracts for Autodesk FormIt?

    To perform an energy analysis on a model, customers can import their FormIt model into Autodesk Revit 2023.1 or higher, create an Energy Analytical Model, and submit their model to next generation Autodesk Insight Carbon Analysis.

  10. What entitlements do customers need to access the next generation Autodesk Insight Carbon Analysis?

    Next generation Autodesk Insight Carbon Analysis is available to all users of Revit, whether that is a standalone subscription, in a collection, or through consumption models like Autodesk Flex.

  11. Does Autodesk Insight Carbon Analysis support AIA2030 Reporting?

    Yes, through a technical partnership with AIA, Autodesk Insight Carbon Analysis supports a direct data exchange workflow for AIA2030 reporting. Support for the workflow is documented here: Report to AIA DDx with Insight | Autodesk
