Autodesk License Transfer Utility no longer supported

As of March 10, 2025, Autodesk will no longer support the License Transfer Utility (LTU) application. This change is being made to provide customers with a more secure and flexible experience with Autodesk products.

What this means for you

With this discontinuation of LTU support, you'll need to follow new procedures to:

  • Transfer standalone licenses with serial numbers between devices
  • Activate licenses with serial numbers for the first time

These procedures are described below.

To transfer standalone licenses with serial numbers between devices

  1. Contact Customer Support to unregister your products.
  2. Access the Product License Activation page.
  3. There are two ways to do this:
    • On the Let's Get Started screen, choose the serial number option.
    • In the product, select the option to change the license type and enter the serial number. 
  4. Click Activate.
  5. Enter the serial number and product key you receive at the time of purchase. You'll find this in one of these places:
    • The product package
    • Your Autodesk Upgrade and Licensing Information email
    • An email from the point of purchase
  6. Click Next to activate your product license.
  7. When you see the message, "The serial number you have entered appears to be unregistered," click Next.
  8. When you see the Autodesk Product Registration and Activation page, click Register Now.

  9. Next, you'll see the Product Registration & Activation page, where you enter your product serial number.



  10. Click Next to go to the Choose Account page.
  11. On the Choose Account page, select your account and then click Next.



  12. When prompted for your request code, follow these instructions to find the request code.
  13. Enter the request code and click Next to activate your license.
  14. Relaunch the product to begin using it.

To activate licenses with serial numbers for the first time

If your product serial number is unregistered, you must register via the Register Now page as there is no account or email tied to the serial number. 

Note: If you are an education user, you won't need a serial number as the new education workflow uses named user licenses.
