Inventor Mold Analysis

Autodesk Support

Apr 6, 2021

The tools provided with Inventor for mold simulation, analysis and material assignment are removed for R2022. In addition to the material library being out of date, the analysis portion of the tool was 32-bit and presented a possible future security risk.

The following commands are removed:

  • Select Material
  • Part Process Settings
  • Part Fill Analysis
  • Mold Process Settings
  • Mold Fill Analysis
  • Set Plot Property
  • Examine Results
  • Job Manager
  • Animate Results
  • Overlay (Air trap and Weld line browser context menu)

Note: You can continue to specify the Gate Location, Part Shrinkage, and Mold Shrinkage values manually.

Customers that need the mold analysis tools that are removed can continue to use Inventor 2021 for their mold analysis needs.

To use existing legacy analysis results outside of Inventor R2022, export the analysis data and open in Moldflow Adviser or Moldflow Insight.

To generate new analysis results with Inventor models, use one of the following:

  • Moldflow Adviser - Thermoplastic injection molding simulation tool for part and mold design engineers used to optimize designs for molded part manufacturability.
  • Moldflow Insight - Injection and compression molding simulation tool for engineers and analysts with customized automation tools to minimize production delays.
