Summary

Autodesk desktop applications utilizing the Autodesk Installer have been affected by an insecure temporary file vulnerability that allows a non-admin user to escalate their privileges. Exploitation of this vulnerability can lead to code execution. 

Description

The details of the vulnerability are as follows:  

  1. CVE-2024-9500: A maliciously crafted DLL file when placed in temporary files and folders that are leveraged by the Autodesk Installer could lead to escalation of privileges to NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM due to insecure privilege management.  

Affected Products

Impacted Versions: 2.10.0.17 and earlier

Mitigated Versions: 2.10.0.20 and later

Update Source: Autodesk Access or Autodesk Installer

Recommendations

Autodesk highly recommends that users of the affected products check to ensure the latest version of the Autodesk Installer is installed, which addresses this vulnerability. Customers do not need to uninstall or reinstall their products.
