Aston Martin and the Impact of Mobility
Remote design collaboration requires cloud-based tools—and the right hardware
At Aston Martin Lagonda, design is a team sport. Historically, that has meant their creative process has involved extended brainstorming, collaboration, and review sessions in the office. When the pandemic forced their teams to suddenly work from home, they feared that their entire process might be upended. What they found instead was that teams were able to collaborate, communicate, and move projects forward working remotely. Their Lenovo hardware played a key role, according to Cathal Loughnane and Steve O’Connor of Aston Martin. Their laptops equipped with NVIDIA graphics cards enabled them to bring full models into Alias AutoStudio, then use VRED for visualization and review with clients in real time. Their color-calibrated screens made it possible to know exactly how work would look for clients. It was an important partnership in helping them adapt to a challenging year.
