A Digital Transformation Journey in Construction
Take a data-driven approach to employee training and technical development
Technology may be driving much of the change in industry, but people need to use that technology for it to work. That makes training and supporting employees in their transformation as important as your technology itself. Coral Butler of the PM Group shares the systems they put in place over the pandemic to support their employees’ growth and development. It started with assessing digital competencies via an in-house app, then assigning training programs that took employees from foundational knowledge to expert certification on all the Autodesk products that they used. Performance data from the assessments and the training sessions was used to build optimized teams with complimentary skillsets. Ultimately, this culminated in the successful deployment of Autodesk Assemble and BIM 360 and an augmented reality app that enabled them to compare BIM models to on-site realities in real time. To continue to transform, Butler says, everyone needs to keep growing. A data-driven approach to employee development can help support that growth.
