Digitizing building design turned out to be the easy part. Digitizing construction is more challenging. Dr. Lucas Winter and the team at CONTAKT are repurposing approaches from discreet manufacturing to boost productivity on the construction site. Their system involves attaching IoT sensors on key construction components like formwork, then collecting and interrogating sensor data about position, movement, and temperature to gain insight into progress. And when you can measure, you can improve.
About the speaker
Dr. Lucas Winter is a founder of CONTAKT. He holds a PhD in Industrial Economics from the University of Graz and has worked as a researcher at UC Berkeley and Harvard. He has also worked as a consultant focused on the digitization of production and lean management.
