As a manufacturer and installer of structural glazing products, custom designed and assembled in an automated factory, Starline Windows is uniquely positioned to work with developers and architects directly within the Revit environment. This creates many advantages and challenges in working across organizations and various internal departments. I have worked extensively with Autodesk and their Partners to implement a design process at Starline Windows that represents our product to the highest level of excellence within our shop drawings, while simultaneously creating machine data files and material managment information. I will share my experience in identifying oportunities for digital transformation and process improvement, and I will speak to implementing change across organizational boundaries. I will discuss how to bridge from a modeling environment to a data centric solution while still maintaining a "data entry once" approach for efficient, agile project delivery.

This topic was nominated as the focal topic for Autodesk CEO's investor relations AEC Q1 earnings call on May 28th. The pandemic has accelerated the use of technology in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. As we all settle into the "new normal,” there has been significant technological change. We can no longer create the same traditional design teams and expect to deliver on all of the coming infrastructure work. We must rethink how we build our teams to support all of our clients' needs. As we look to capitalize on immersive collaboration platforms, such as The Wild, we are adding entirely new skill sets and resources to our design teams, including immersive media specialists, digital delivery experts, trainers, and adoption strategists. This is enabling rapid growth to our business and changing the way we deliver our infrastructure projects. As a result, we're developing novel adoption strategies to ensure long-term success for our clients in this new digital reality.

In this session, we'll walk through a complete workflow starting inside ReCap Pro software, and publishing a point cloud to the Autodesk Construction Cloud platform. We'll extract linear features and bring them into Civil 3D software so we can create a simplified but highly accurate surface model. From there, we will publish the linear features as as-built information to ArcGIS Online for everyone to use. This is a workflow you've been asking for!

This session will present a workflow between Inventor and Revit software using Dynamo as an automation tool for production. Our firm has an extensive history of using Inventor for bridge infrastructure modeling and using programming to automate production. Structural concrete or steel, reinforcement, bolted connections, and construction details are represented in our parametric models. Our firm chose Inventor as a primary 3D production tool due to its short learning curve with new 3D modelers, approachability, and native parametric functionalities. However, to be within a building information modeling (BIM) environment for collaboration with partnering firms and clients, we pushed these Inventor models into Revit using a combination of location data from our analysis models and Dynamo inside Revit. With this workflow, we can automate the assembly of our Revit intelligent model, establish Inventor as a BIM support tool for modeling within the production team, and retain our firm's Inventor assets for future BIM projects.

Event Simulation in Autodesk Fusion 360 is a powerful analysis tool that is intended to help you solve problems with complex contact, large motion and deformation, and nonlinear material. It can help confirm the acceptability of the model by including all the nonlinear effects that may be encountered during actual use: nonlinear large displacement, rubber-like material, nonlinear elasticity or plasticity, and contact. When it comes to practical use of simulation, users need to think about the assumptions and limitations of Event Simulation. This session will cover when not to use Event Simulation and then show how to use it correctly without failures and how to interpret the simulation outcomes.

INDOT (Indiana Department of Transportation) is using Autodesk Build software in the Autodesk Construction Cloud platform to manage preconstruction, design-build procurement, and construction phases. INDOT and Parsons will present how Autodesk Build has been used on the $1.2 billion I-69 Ohio River Crossing project. You'll see how the various workflows and tools have been used to streamline communications and information flow in each of the project phases. The presentation will cover document development and collaboration, internal and agency reviews and approvals, procurement document delivery, and multiple construction phase workflows.
