Tips for Professional Training with AU Learning Content

With technologies, processes, and possibilities changing so rapidly for the Design and Make industries, ongoing professional learning is part of the job for all of us. That makes training key for individuals, teams, and companies.
AU on-demand learning can be an important resource for year-round training, and the AU website makes it easy to find the content you need and package it up into playlists. So whether your team needs to build skills, adopt new processes and technologies, or see how other teams put these into practice on a project, you can help them find the content the matters most—then get back to work. Check out these tips to find, organize, and manage the learning content that will help you achieve your desired business outcomes:
Create playlists
Playlists are an quick and easy way to curate AU learning around a specific technology, trend, or workflow. And anyone can create a playlist on the AU year-round learning site.
First, make sure you’re logged in with your Autodesk account, then navigate to any class, article, or Theater page. Once there, click “Add to playlist,” then choose whether you want to create a new playlist or add it to an existing one.
If you’re creating a new playlist, you’ll be prompted to name it and add a short description. You can also choose whether to make that playlist publicly searchable on the AU site. You have the option to make it private, which means that it’s available only via a direct link that you share.
Once a playlist has been created, you can add or remove sessions and reorganize the sessions whenever you want. You’ll see all your playlists on the left of your “My AU” page.
Not ready to build a playlist yet? You can also bookmark AU sessions to revisit as you think about the best content to include.
Search by industry, topic, product, and more
The search functionality on the AU year-round learning site is robust, enabling you to search thousands of classes to find the content that matters most. You can get to the search page by entering any term in the search field top right—just look for the magnifying glass icon.
On your search results page, you can refine your search by toggling the options for content to sort by type, product, industry, topic, year, and more.
Search within class transcripts
Most AU classes with video recordings have a transcript associated with the session. Once you start watching the video, you can click on the blue “Transcript” button to see the transcript in a panel to the left of the video.
Once here, you can search by keyword within that transcript. Occurrences of the word will be highlighted in the transcript. Click on the word, and the class video will jump to that second of the video. It will also show you occurrences of the word in the class handout and the speaker presentation deck, if those assets were provided.
This can be a powerful way to find the content that is most important for your training. Instead of asking team members to watch an entire class, you can give them specific times in the class where certain tips or knowledge are shared.
