Description
Join us for an in-depth session focused on the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) project. The ELT is a revolutionary ground-based telescope with a 39-metre primary mirror and will be the largest telescope in the world – the World's Biggest Eye on the Sky. This will revolutionize our understanding of the universe, and we are delighted that Gerd Jakob, Head of the Mechanical Engineering department, is sharing his valuable insights with us. We will focus on people, processes and data by understanding the roles and contributions of the diverse team involved in the ELT project. We will give you an overview of the (technical) processes and methods used in the ELT project, as well as the innovative solutions and technologies used to overcome project hurdles. In addition, we will discuss the role of data in the planning, construction and operation of the ELT. There will also be an opportunity for you to ask questions.
Key Learnings
- Learn how effective communication and teamwork among stakeholders contribute to the success of large engineering projects.
- Identify methodologies and strategies that can be applied to improve efficiency, overcome challenges, and achieve milestones.
- Understand the pivotal role of data in the design, construction, and operation phases of the ELT.
