You can export objects in a drawing to a different file
00:07
format so that those objects can be used in other programs.
00:11
For example, you can export an Asus solid object file,
00:16
a device independent bitmap file, an encapsulated postscript file,
00:21
an I just file a solid object stereo lithography file,
00:26
a Microsoft Windows meta file, a micro station DGN file
00:30
and so on.
00:32
While the method used to export to these other
00:35
file types is similar for each file type.
00:38
Each has specific requirements.
00:41
For example,
00:42
you cannot export an ace a solid object unless
00:46
the drawing contains a solid body or a region
00:50
and you cannot export an STL file unless the drawing contains a watertight mesh
00:57
to export the drawing to another file format,
00:60
expand the application menu and choose export.
01:05
Notice that you can select specific file types such as DWF, PDF and DGN
01:14
to export to any supported file type, select other formats
01:19
to open the export data dialogue.
01:23
Here you can navigate to the folder where you want to save the file.
01:28
The name of the current drawing is displayed as the default file name,
01:33
expand the files of type drop down
01:37
here you see all the different file types that are supported
01:43
for this exercise.
01:44
Select bitmap
01:47
star dot B MP,
01:49
then
01:50
click save
01:53
at this point. The process varies depending on the type of file you are creating.
01:58
Since you are exporting A B MP file, a device independent bitmap.
02:03
The program prompts you to select objects or you
02:07
can press enter to select all objects and viewpoints
02:11
press enter.
02:15
Once the file has been created,
02:17
you can use it in another program.
02:20
For example, in Windows Explorer, if you double click the B MP file,
02:25
it opens in the program you use to view raster images.
02:30
Here you can see that the drawing objects
02:32
have been exported as a bitmap raster image.
