Placing a section view on a sheet

Create, place, and modify a detail view on a sheet.

00:03

A sheet view in rev it

00:05

is used to publish a drawing.

00:07

It contains a title block which defines the paper

00:10

size and allows us to assign drawing number,

00:13

title and other details.

00:15

Model views are then placed onto the sheet

00:18

to create the finished drawing ready for

00:20

publishing and issuing to clients and contractors.

00:23

We're looking at the floor junction detail view

00:27

and this view shows part of the 3D model

00:30

and has detail components, lines, tags and text added to create the finished detail

00:36

and it's now ready to be placed on a sheet for publishing.

00:39

So first let's create the new sheet.

00:42

So from the view ribbon tab on the sheet composition panel,

00:46

we'll click on the sheet tool.

00:49

And now in the new sheet settings,

00:51

we can see that we have several title blocks available

00:54

and we have the A 11 by 8.5 inch horizontal type selected. So

00:59

we'll stick with this and click ok to create the new sheet.

01:04

Now looking in the project browser

01:06

under the sheets group,

01:08

we can see that we have the new sheet

01:09

view here and it's a 102 and it's currently unnamed

01:13

and looking at the title block,

01:15

we can see the number and the unnamed title reflected in the fields.

01:19

So what we name this. So from the project browser,

01:23

a right click and choose rename

01:26

and will change his number to be D 100

01:30

and then change its name to be floor junction data.

01:35

And now we'll click. OK?

01:38

And we can see that that's updated in the project browser

01:40

and it's also reflected on the title block here as well.

01:44

Now, the title block does have bidirectional associativity.

01:48

So to show this, if I select the title block

01:51

and then click on the sheet number field here,

01:53

we can edit this to be D 101.

01:57

And then once we finish this,

01:58

we can see that that's updated in the project browser to match.

02:03

So now we're ready to place a view onto the drawing sheet.

02:06

And we have two ways of doing this

02:09

first looking at the project browser in the sections group here,

02:13

we can see we have the floor junction detail view

02:16

and this is the one that we were placed on the sheet

02:18

just next to its name.

02:19

We can see we have a little icon here that

02:21

indicates whether the view has been placed on a sheet

02:24

at the moment. The icon is white, meaning it has not been placed onto a sheet.

02:30

So now we can select the view in the project browser here and

02:33

holding the mouse button down. We can drag it out into the view.

02:37

And when we let go of the mouse,

02:38

we can see we have that connected here and we

02:41

can just click to position it on the sheet.

02:45

Now, looking back at the project browser,

02:48

we can see that that icon has now turned blue

02:51

and that lets us know that this view has been placed onto a drawing sheet.

can just click to position it on the sheet.

02:45
