SwitchBack in Navisworks and Revit

Access Navisworks SwitchBack, select an object in Navisworks, and then locate the same object in Revit.

SwitchBack enables you to select an object in Navisworks and then locate and zoom into the same object in a native CAD package.

To access Navisworks Switchback, you must download the Navisworks Export Utility from the Autodesk Navisworks, Viewers website.

Run the downloaded executable to unpack the NWC Export Utility installer.

Note that administration rights are needed to install this product.

The SwitchBack feature is available for Revit, AutoCAD, and Inventor.

Both the Navisworks Export Utility and your Autodesk program must be installed on the same machine in order for SwitchBack to work.

Once the add-in successfully installs, in Revit, open an existing file or create a new file.

Note that Switchback for Revit will only work if you are working with an NWC file exported from Revit or a saved NWF or NWD file.

On the Add-Ins ribbon, in the External panel, expand the External Tools drop-down and enable Navisworks SwitchBack.

Return to Navisworks and open the desired file.

Then, from the Home ribbon, Tools panel, select Clash Detective.

In the Clash Detective window, define and run a new test.

Then, from the Results, select a clash.

In the Scene View, select the object.

Next, from the ribbon, open the Item Tools tab.

Then, on the SwitchBack panel, select SwitchBack.

Revit will load the relevant project, find and select the item, and zoom to it.

If SwitchBack was unsuccessful with the selected object and you receive an error message,
