Line type is a visual property assigned to geometric objects.
00:09
You can control the line type of those objects by adjusting the line type of the
00:13
layer on which the object is drawn or assign a specific line type to an object.
00:20
For example, the exercise file consists of a site plan for a proposed bank
00:26
on the home ribbon in the layers panel,
00:29
click layer properties to open the layer properties manager palette.
00:34
Here you see all of the layers in the drawing
00:38
in the line type column.
00:40
You can see that all of the layers currently use the continuous line type
00:46
to change the line type assigned to a layer.
00:49
Click the line type for that layer,
00:52
for example to change the line type assigned to the contours layer,
00:57
click its line type to open the select line type dialogue.
01:03
Here you see a list of all the line types already loaded in the drawing,
01:08
select dash 0.2
01:11
and then click OK.
01:14
As soon as you do that line type is assigned to the layer.
01:18
As long as the objects drawn on that layer are
01:21
created with their line type set to by layer,
01:25
all of those objects will change to match the line type
01:29
in the exercise file.
01:31
You can see that all of the green contour lines now have a dash dot appearance.
01:38
Repeat this to assign a center line line type to the road, center lines
01:44
in the layer properties manager palette
01:46
for the road center layer,
01:48
click its line type to open the select line type dialogue,
01:53
select the center line type
01:56
and then click. OK.
01:58
As soon as you do,
01:59
you can see that the road center lines now display using that line type.
02:05
Repeat this one more time
02:08
in the layer. Properties manager palette,
02:10
select the line type assigned to the gas layer
02:14
in the select line type dialogue, select the line type gas underscore line
02:20
and then click. OK.
02:23
As soon as you do,
02:24
you can see that the objects on that layer now appear as a series
02:28
of dashes with the word gas appearing in the gaps in the line.
02:34
You can also load additional line types while working in the layer.
02:38
Properties manager,
02:40
select the line type assigned to the prop lines layer
02:45
in the select line types, dialogue, click load
02:48
to open the load or reload line types dialogue.
02:53
In the available line types panel,
02:55
you see a list of all the line types in the current line type library file,
03:00
scroll down the list, select phantom
03:05
and then click OK.
03:08
That line type is immediately added to the list in the select line types. Dialogue
03:14
