When working with Data Exchanges in ACC, there are several ways to prevent and troubleshoot unexpected behaviors.
00:11
It is also important to recognize that since a Data Exchange is not a file,
00:15
there are limitations on the operations that you can perform with an exchange.
00:20
Confirm that you have at least view and download permissions for the folder where you want to create the Data Exchange.
00:27
With your project open in Autodesk Docs, on the Files page, navigate to the folder where the Data Exchange will be saved.
00:35
Click More, and then select Permissions settings.
00:39
From the Permissions panel, expand the Permissions drop-down to review your permissions for that folder.
00:45
In the Files list, an orange triangle exclamation icon next to a Data Exchange indicates that the Data Exchange is experiencing some issues.
00:55
This may be caused by a Revit file that has been moved, deleted, or restored from deletion.
01:02
Additionally, if a file has been reverted to a previous version, it could cause issues with the Data Exchange.
01:09
In any of these cases, you will need to recreate the Data Exchange.
01:13
If no elements are visible when opening a Data Exchange, ensure that the exchange is not in the processing state.
01:20
If the Data Exchange includes many elements, it may take some time for them to load.
01:25
Wait for the processing to finish, and then the elements will start to load.
01:30
Be aware that there are limitations on the operations that you can perform with Data Exchanges.
01:36
Here, you see that a Data Exchange has a size of 0 bytes.
01:40
A Data Exchange is not a file.
01:43
This item in ACC is actually a pointer to a data base, so it does not have a memory footprint - it cannot be downloaded and used.
01:53
The Data Exchange is actually a graph data base of the model elements and their geometry and properties.
01:59
They have been copied out of the original file, and maintain a reference back to the original elements, so that they can be updated.
02:07
When you create a Data Exchange from a 3D view, you may notice that rooms are not included.
02:13
However, they are included if they are contained within the view, and if the view matches the face from when the rooms were created.
02:20
To ensure that rooms are included, in Revit, verify that any applied section box contains these rooms.
02:27
Even though the room category will not appear in the category list, rooms will be included and visible in Power BI.
02:35
Now you can troubleshoot and optimize Data Exchanges within Autodesk Construction Cloud.
