Object styles control the appearance of objects in a drawing.
00:07
The object styles in Autodesk Civil 3D have general attributes, such as object color, visibility of components, linetypes,
00:16
and fill patterns, which can be edited or copied to create new styles.
00:21
You can also save multiple object styles as a drawing template.
00:25
To manage styles in Civil 3D, open the Toolspace Settings tab.
00:31
In the Settings tree, the General collection contains Multipurpose styles that can be used by more than one object type.
00:38
This is also where you access shared label styles.
00:42
For example, Slope Pattern Styles can be shared by gradings and corridors,
00:47
and Marker Styles can be shared by points and survey components.
00:50
To create a new style, right-click a styles collection and choose New.
00:55
Or, to make changes to an existing style, right-click the name of the style and select Edit.
01:01
If you wish to create a style that uses most, but not all the same settings as an existing style,
01:07
right-click the name of the style and select Copy.
01:11
A copy allows you to create a new style with different settings, such as colors, contour intervals, and more.
01:18
Once you have created the styles you need, it can be useful to save them.
01:23
To collect and save groups of styles as a drawing template (.dwt) file, from the application menu,
01:30
select Save As > Drawing Template.
01:34
All drawings created from a specific template file will share the same styles.
01:39
Knowing how to configure, customize, and save object templates in Civil 3D saves time and streamlines workflows.
