Understanding table styles

Control and modify the appearance of tables using grips and existing table styles.

00:04

A table is a compound object that contains information

00:08

arranged in rows and columns similar to a spreadsheet.

00:12

The appearance of a table is controlled by its

00:14

table style similar to the way a textile controls.

00:18

The appearance of text

00:20

tables can be created several different ways.

00:23

For example, you can create a table and then manually fill in information.

00:28

You can extract data from a drawing and use that data to create a table.

00:33

And you can import data from a spreadsheet

00:35

and link the table to the spreadsheet data

00:39

in the exercise file. A table has already been created.

00:43

It was created by extracting information from the doors in the floor plan,

00:49

select the table

00:51

when you do

00:52

the table highlights and you see a number of grips,

00:56

you can use those grips to adjust the table.

00:59

For example, you can select the square grip in the upper left to move the table.

01:05

When you select the square grip on the right,

01:08

you can drag it to change the width of the comments column,

01:12

which also changes the overall width of the table

01:17

on the annotate ribbon

01:18

in the tables panel.

01:20

You can also see that this table was created using the standard table style

01:27

press escape to deselect the table,

01:31

you create and control table styles using the table style dialogue

01:36

to display this dialogue on the annotate ribbon

01:39

in the tables panel, click the table style dialogue box launcher.

01:46

In the styles group box, you see a list of table styles that already exist.

01:52

You can expand the drop down below this list

01:54

to filter the list to show all table styles

01:57

or just those that have already been used in the drawing.

02:02

In

02:02

this case, there is only one style.

02:05

You can select a style in the list and then make it the current style,

02:10

modify the style or delete the style.

02:13

You can also right click a style in the list and make it the current style,

02:17

rename the style or delete the style

02:21

note that you cannot delete or rename the standard style.
