The Analysis tools in Autodesk Forma enable you to test and understand your proposals
00:09
during the early planning stages of the design process.
00:13
With a project already open, in the right panel, you can access the various analyses.
00:21
Hover your cursor over the analysis icons to see what each one focuses on.
00:27
Click Area metrics, if it is not already displayed.
00:31
Default metrics are displayed here, with some that are tailored to certain geographies.
00:37
However, the metrics are yours to configure, depending on your needs.
00:42
Open the Units tab to review any units within the project.
00:46
Then, open the Parking tab to get relevant parking metrics,
00:51
including the number of parking spots and access driveways.
00:55
You can also click Sun analysis to analyze sun hours.
00:59
The sun analysis measures the amount of time in sunlight at a given date for points covering the ground and the buildings in a proposal.
01:07
The Daylight potential analysis uses Vertical Sky Component (VSC) measurements
01:15
to provide you with insights into the daylight performance of your proposal buildings.
01:19
The Wind analysis is a powerful tool for early phase assessment of your site for various effects caused by wind.
01:27
Two assessment methods are available: an AI-powered rapid analysis that provides quick, directional results,
01:35
and a more detailed simulation suitable for documentation purposes.
01:41
To ensure reliability, the analysis has been benchmarked against several engineering consultancies,
01:47
as well as academic benchmarks.
01:50
The Microclimate analysis computes the perceived temperature of outdoor spaces.
01:56
By combining the results of the sun, wind, and daylight analyses, with localized weather and climate data,
02:04
Forma can create a comprehensive map of the local climate conditions on your site.
02:10
It also provides disaster testing by creating future scenarios that might apply to your site.
02:17
Rapid operational energy analysis predicts the energy it will take to operate the proposed building,
02:24
including lighting, heating and cooling, and powering appliances.
02:29
The Noise analysis provides insights into the noise caused by road and rail traffic near your site.
02:37
As with wind, there is a rapid and detailed version available depending on your assessment needs.
02:43
Solar energy analysis lets you identify which façades or roofs have the most exposure to sun radiation.
02:50
It also allows you to estimate the annual potential electricity production from solar panels.
02:56
Finally, you can also access analyses by extensions.
03:01
The analyses in Forma are fast and easy to use,
03:06
meaning you do not need in-depth technical expertise to run an analysis,
03:10
making them ideal during the early stages of project planning.

The Analysis tools in Autodesk Forma enable you to test and understand proposals during the early planning stages of the design process.
Default metrics are displayed in this example, with some that are tailored to certain geographies.
The sun analysis measures the amount of time in sunlight at a given date for points covering the ground and the buildings in a proposal.
Two assessment methods are available: an AI-powered rapid analysis that provides quick, directional results, and a more detailed simulation suitable for documentation purposes. As with wind, there is a rapid and detailed version available depending on assessment needs.
It also helps to estimate the annual potential electricity production from solar panels.
