Compare Revit model points to points in an exported file or an as-built file from the field.
Type:
Tutorial
Length:
3 min.
Transcript
00:03
When using Point Layout, you can compare points in your Revit model with points in an exported file or an as-built file from the field.
00:12
This creates a report that identifies any deviations and can be exported as a spreadsheet or to BIM 360 Field.
00:20
Begin with a model open in Revit.
00:23
Then, from the ribbon, Autodesk Point Layout tab, Coordinate panel, select Compare Pts.
00:32
The Compare Point File to Drawing dialog opens.
00:36
Click Select File to Compare.
00:40
In the file browser, navigate to the file you wish to compare against the model.
00:46
Select the file—in this case, the as-built CSV file—and then click Open.
00:54
Select Coordinate System, and from the dialog, ensure that the matching coordinate system is selected.
01:03
Click OK to return to the Compare Points dialog.
01:07
If any deviations are found, a report is displayed in the dialog that identifies each point number, model point,
01:15
and external file point with differing values.
01:19
This includes the XYZ values for the model and field points, as well as specific deviation values.
01:27
To zoom in on a specific deviation within the model, select a point number from the report.
01:35
Back in the Compare Point File to Drawing dialog, you can use the Filter field to filter report results by a description.
01:44
You can also filter the points by a tolerance.
01:48
For example, if you enter a Default Location Tolerance of .1 decimal feet,
01:54
you will only see points with a deviation greater than .1 decimal feet.
01:60
Now, you can Print or Save this report.
02:03
You can also upload it to BIM 360 Field to link the report to an existing export file, issue or task.
02:13
Click the BIM 360 Field button, log in with your username and password, and then select the project to link to.
02:23
In the BIM 360 Field Editor, enter the information for all of the point issues,
02:29
such as Issue ID, Root Cause, Company, Location, Field, process Due Date, Priority, and Spec Reference.
02:41
You can set this for the entire project.
02:44
Then, you can either Export to Excel or Export to BIM 360 Field Issues.
02:51
Now you can compare points in a Revit model with points in an exported or as-built file to identify deviations and generate a report.
