Renumber points in Point Layout for Revit

Renumber points manually or automatically in Point Layout for Revit.

In Point Layout, you can renumber location points either manually or automatically.

Within the automated tool, you can apply multi-layer filters to specify the exact set of points to renumber.

Begin in Revit with a model open.

From the ribbon, Autodesk Point Layout tab, Customize panel, select Renumber Points.

In the Renumbering Style dialog, to manually select points and renumber them, click Manual.

Then, in the Start # dialog, specify the new starting point number, such as “9000”.

In the drawing, click each point that you want to change.

In Properties, you can review the updated PointNumber values.

You can also use an automated method to renumber points.

Select Renumber Points again, and this time, click Automated.

In the NumberPoints dialog, choose how to select the points to renumber.

You can select all points, select some, or use a filter.

In this case, leave Use GTP Filter selected.

Then, select the point family type.

Here, select Walls.

In the corresponding field, enter a new starting point number, such as “9000”, and then click OK.

In the Search Filter dialog, you can filter your selection even further by point number, description, category, role, or elevation.

In this example, from the PointCategory list, select Wall Point to renumber all wall points.

Click Apply, and a table of filtered points displays in the preview.

Click OK to renumber the points.

To confirm the renumbering, in the model, select any wall point.

Then, in Properties, scroll down to review the updated PointNumber, which now starts with 9000.
