Import points in Point Layout for Revit

Import points into your Revit model using Autodesk Point Layout.

Using Autodesk Point Layout, you can import points into Revit.

This enables you to import as-built points to update existing locations, or to add secondary points.

With a project open in Revit, from the ribbon, Autodesk Point Layout tab, select Import Points.

From the Import Location Points from File dialog, click Select File to Import.

Then, from the file browser, choose the file to import—in this case, the as-built file.

Click Open.

Back in the Import Location Points dialog, a list of points displays.

You can either specify the location points to import or leave them all selected to import the entire list.

Note that in this case, point 9159 had a noticeable deviation in a previous comparison of field and model points,

and the import will enable you to view them both.

Select Coordinate System to select or confirm the matching coordinate system, then click OK.

Next, set the Point Role—in this case, to As Built—and then click OK.

A notification indicates that one of the points shares the same number and description,

but has a different location than an existing point in the file.

You can either Import the new secondary point or Move the existing point in your project to the new location.

Zoom into the drawing area to review the imported points.
