Connect points using pipes and walls in Revit with Autodesk Point Layout.
Transcript
00:03
With Point Layout for Revit, you can connect points dot to dot with walls, pipe, conduit, cable tray, and model lines.
00:14
For example, when connecting underground facilities, you can specify the connection of points with pipes.
00:22
For the Connect Points tool, you must import existing field conditions or as-built points.
00:28
Also note that prior to using this tool, pipe or conduit needs to be placed in your project already.
00:36
With the model open in Revit, on the ribbon, from the Autodesk Point Layout tab, select Connect Points.
00:45
In the Point Selection dialog, specify how you want to select the points.
00:51
In this example, click Filter, which is the recommended option.
00:57
The SearchFilter dialog displays.
00:60
From the Point Description group, select a description to filter the points, such as Existing Underground Utilities.
01:09
Click Apply to display a table of points that match the applied criteria.
01:16
When connecting these points in Revit, they do need to connect numerically.
01:21
Review the point numbers in the table, then click OK.
01:26
Next, in the Connection Type dialog, specify whether you want to connect the points using walls, conduit, pipe, model lines, or cable tray.
01:39
In this example, Pipe is selected.
01:44
Then, in the Connection Style dialog, always select Numerical.
01:51
In the Top or Bottom dialog, specify whether you shot the top or bottom of the pipe, and finally, specify the pipe size.
02:02
The points are now connected by pipe and at elevation.
02:07
Open the 3D View to review the connection.
02:12
You can also connect points with walls.
02:16
Click Connect Points again and select Filter.
02:21
In the SearchFilter dialog, under Point Description, select Existing Walls, click Apply, and then OK.
02:33
Select Walls for the Connection Type, select Numerical, and then specify the level on which to create the walls.
02:44
The wall displays in the drawing.
02:48
Now you can use the Connect Points tool in Point Layout for Revit to connect points with walls, pipe, conduit, cable tray, and model lines.
