When creating a railway network in InfraWorks Mobility Simulation,
00:08
once you have added rail segments, stands, and a train route,
00:11
the next step is to set up a scheduled train service for your multimodal simulation model.
00:17
Begin in an open InfraWorks Mobility Simulation model, with railway segments, stands, and a route already configured for the train.
00:26
To set up the scheduled train service, from the Network menu, click Services.
00:32
This opens the Services dialog.
00:35
Here, you can select the type of transportation service you want to add, as well as configure the details of the service itself.
00:43
For this example, click Transport Types to specify the type of transport.
00:48
The Transport Types dialog box displays.
00:52
On the Description tab, click New to add a new type of transportation.
00:57
StandardBus appears as the default mode, so in the Description field, delete the text, and type “Train” to rename it.
01:05
Click Colour.
01:07
In the Choose Colour dialog, select a green color for this example, and click OK.
01:13
Now, expand the Solid Shape drop-down and select Train.
01:17
Select Train again in the Shape Group drop-down, and then click Apply.
01:23
Next, click the Size tab, where you can specify details about the train,
01:28
such as the length, width, capacity, how many people can be standing, and the number of doors.
01:35
For this example, change the Length to 15 to make the train a little longer.
01:40
Then, change the number of Doors to 4.
01:44
If needed, the Dynamics, Dwell, and Attachment tabs let you specify additional information,
01:50
such as fuel requirements, boarding times, and the addition of more passenger cars to the train.
01:57
For this example, return to the Description tab, and click Apply.
02:02
Then, select the Size tab, click Apply again, and choose OK.
02:07
This opens the Services dialog again.
02:11
With the train you just specified now available in the simulation, you can now create the new train service.
02:18
Click New.
02:19
In the Select Trail dialog, select Trail1, and then click OK.
02:25
Next, in the New Service dialog, use the default name of Service1, and click OK.
02:31
Back in the Services dialog, in the Stand column, you see the four pedestrian stands already placed in the train network.
02:39
Now, specify how long it takes to get from one stand to another by train, and how long passengers wait on each stand.
02:48
In the Dwell column, enable all four stands.
02:52
Change the Interval to 5:00 minutes, and then click New.
02:56
In the New Transport Trip dialog, review the departure time, transport type, and number of trips per hour.
03:04
In this example, the train you specified is selected, and, starting at 8:00, there are 12 trips departing within the time window.
03:12
Click OK.
03:14
Back in the Services dialog, click Apply, and you see that the amount of time people will dwell, or stand waiting, is set to 15 minutes.
03:24
For this example, under Minimum, change all wait times to 5 minutes.
03:29
Click Apply, and then select OK.
03:33
Your scheduled rail service is now created.
03:36
Now that you have created a scheduled train service for your multimodal traffic simulation model,
03:41
you need to add and connect pedestrian walkways, so that people can get to and from the stands.
