Once you have created view reports on a layout,
00:07
the next step is to configure those viewpoints so that they show the exact geometry
00:12
you want displayed within the viewport at the scale you want them to print.
00:17
The furniture plan layout includes three separate view ports.
00:21
Presently, each shows the same model geometry. At the same scale.
00:27
In this exercise,
00:28
you will adjust the rectangular viewport in the lower left
00:32
to show the entire floor plan at a scale of 1/8 inch equals 1 ft.
00:37
The circular viewport will include just the conference table and chairs
00:41
at a scale of one quarter inch equals 1 ft.
00:45
And the polygonal viewport in the upper left
00:47
will include just the reception desk and chair
00:51
at a scale of one half inch equals 1 ft.
00:56
First, make sure you are working in paper space
00:60
on the status bar. You should see the word paper
01:04
and in the lower left corner of the window,
01:07
you should see the paper space icon.
01:10
If you see the word model on the status bar,
01:14
click it
01:15
to toggle back to paper space or simply double
01:18
click anywhere in the layout outside the view ports.
01:24
Since a viewport is an object.
01:26
When you select the border of the viewport in the lower left,
01:30
you see a square grip in each corner
01:33
as well as a square grip and a triangular grip in the center of the viewport,
01:39
you can use the corner grips to change the size of the viewport
01:43
and the square grip in the center to move the viewport.
01:49
When you click the triangular grip, you see a list of the available scales,
01:55
select 1/8 inch equals 1 ft.
01:59
When you do the entire viewport changes size,
02:03
the viewport is now at the desired scale
02:06
but it has been reduced so that its borders match the extent of the view at that scale
02:14
toggle off object snap and then use the grips
02:18
to adjust the viewport back to its previous size.
02:24
With the viewport border selected on the status bar,
02:28
you can see that the Viewport scale is still set to 1/8 inch equals 1 ft,
02:36
click the lock tool
02:38
to lock the viewport so that you do not accidentally change its scale.
02:44
Then press escape to deselect the viewport,
02:49
double click inside the circular viewport to make it the active viewport.
02:54
Now you are working in model space within the context of the viewport
03:00
on the status bar. You see the word model
03:04
and the viewport now has a bold border
03:07
pan the contents of the viewport so that the
03:10
conference table and chairs are centered in the viewport.
03:15
Then on the status bar, expand the scale menu and select one quarter inch equals 1 ft.
03:24
Since you used the tool on the status bar, only the scale of the viewport changes
03:30
the size of the viewport did not change
03:34
again on the status bar.
03:36
Click the lock tool to lock the viewport so
03:40
that you do not accidentally change its scale.
03:45
Double click inside the polygonal viewport to make it the active viewport,
03:51
then pan and zoom.
03:53
So that only the reception desk and chair and the adjacent wall and door are visible
03:60
on the status bar. Expand the scale tool and select one half inch equals 1 ft.
04:08
If the desk chair, wall and door are no longer entirely visible in the viewport
04:14
pan until the objects are properly positioned,
04:18
be careful not to zoom because while the viewport
04:22
is active zooming changes the scale of the viewport.
04:27
If you do accidentally change the scale
04:30
on the status bar, expand the scale list again
04:34
and set the scale back to one half inch equals 1 ft
04:41
once the view is positioned properly,
04:43
and the tool on the status bar indicates that the scale
04:46
of the viewport is one half inch equals 1 ft.
04:50
Use the lock tool to lock the viewport.
04:55
Once the viewport has been locked,
04:57
zooming, no longer changes the scale of the viewport.
05:00
But instead zooms the entire sheet even though the
05:04
viewport is still selected as the active viewport.
05:09
Double click outside the viewport to return to paper space.
05:15
Now that all three view ports are at the correct scale and have been locked.
05:20
You cannot accidentally change their scale.
05:23
Each viewport now shows the desired contents
05:27
at the desired scales.
