Create shop drawings with Advance Steel

Create shop drawings—for both single parts and assemblies—automatically in Advance Steel.

Once your detailed design model has been transferred from Revit to Advance Steel,

you can use out-of-the-box templates in Advance Steel to automatically create shop drawings

Advance Steel also allows you to drive steel machines in the shop,

and it can automatically generate CNC data with NC-DSTV files for steel elements,

NC-DXF files for plates, and XML files for driving welding robots.

With a project open in Advance Steel, from the Output ribbon, Part marks panel, click the Numbering tool.

This opens the Numbering – Identical part detection dialog.

On the General tab, you can choose to generate single part marks and assembly part marks

by selecting the Process single parts and Process assemblies checkboxes, respectively.

After you make your selections, click Apply, and then OK.

From the Output ribbon, in the Documents panel, click Drawing Processes.

In the Drawing Processes palette, you can select from out-of-the box drawing templates

to create shop drawings for both single parts and assemblies.

Click one process, and then, in the Process properties dialog, click OK.

If you need to, you can re-run the Numbering tool to update the final numbers of model elements

based on their shop drawing placement.

To review shop drawings, from the Output ribbon, in the Document Manager panel, click Document Manager.

In the Document Manager dialog, you can view individual drawings by expanding Details,
