In Revit, you can utilize user-defined connections to create your own custom steel connections.

To begin, open a project in Revit with connections already loaded and placed in a model.

Click and drag to select one or more connections, and then from the Properties palette, click Edit Type.

In the Type Properties dialog, in the Ranges of applicability panel, click the Edit button.

Click the New button.

Give the connection a name, such as Custom.

Press Enter.

Then, from the Element 1 and Element 2 tabs, use the drop-down menus to set the family, section name, and material of each element.

To apply the created connection or custom connection to other locations, select the custom connection in your model.

Then, right-click and pick Propagate Connection to duplicate the connection in multiple locations in your model.

Note that custom connections cannot contain only generic connections.
