Import sheets into an existing sheet set

Importing sheets into an existing sheet set.

00:04

Most of the commands that you'll use to manipulate the

00:06

sheet set can be found in the right click,

00:08

pop up menu.

00:09

I'll right click on the top level sheet set.

00:12

Notice that the only option that is enabled is closed sheet set,

00:16

right? Clicking on any of the sheets will only get you to the open commands.

00:20

That's what I wanted to show you first

00:22

to use any of these tools. The pallet must be open in the drawing editor.

00:26

So

00:27

let's click on new to start a new drawing.

00:30

Now you see that when I right click on the sheet set itself,

00:33

most of the tools in the pop up are enabled and ready to use.

00:36

In fact,

00:37

the only one that isn't enabled is insert sheet list table.

00:41

You have to have a sheet from the sheet set open for that to become enabled.

00:46

So I'll open 0 0 dash cover sheet to demonstrate.

00:49

Just double click on it or right click and select open now,

00:54

right click on the top level sheet set again

00:56

and you'll see that the insert sheet list table is enabled.

01:00

And since we don't need an open drawing for anything, we'll be doing moving forward.

01:04

Let's close 0, 0 dash cover sheet that we just opened.

01:08

I'll just click on the X in its tab to close it.

01:11

The first thing we're going to do is to add a couple of sheets to our sheet set.

01:15

Again. It's a right click operation.

01:17

But you need to know that the new sheet or

01:19

sheets will be inserted just after where you right clicked.

01:23

So if you wanted the sheets in a subset,

01:25

you could have your mouse over the subset

01:27

and the sheet would just come right after that.

01:30

I want my sheets to come in just below

01:33

master plan.

01:34

So I'll click on it now.

01:37

Just a side note here

01:38

based on what I just said,

01:39

you might think that right clicking to import on the top level

01:42

sheet set would insert them just above 0 0 dash cover sheet.

01:46

But it doesn't,

01:47

if you import from the top level, it will place the imported sheet or sheets

01:52

at the bottom of the entire sheet set. So keep that in mind

01:56

with all that said, since I want my new sheets to appear just below 01

02:01

master plan,

02:02

I'd normally click on that to start my import,

02:05

but I want to show you an operation later.

02:07

So let's click on the top level sheet set so that

02:09

the sheets will import at the bottom of the set.

02:12

So from the top level sheet set,

02:14

I'll right click and select import layout as sheet.

02:18

Click on the large browse for drawings button at the top,

02:21

navigate to your dataset and select both erosion control plan

02:25

and drainage summary from the civil drawings folder and click open

02:29

the import layouts as sheets,

02:31

dialogue will populate with the two files we selected.

02:34

There's a drawing file name, column, a layout name,

02:37

column and a very important status column.

02:39

Yours should read available for import.

02:42

As you see that mine does.

02:44

You need to know that a layout can only be in one sheet set.

02:47

If the import tool detects that a layout is in another sheet set,

02:51

the status will tell you so and you won't be able to import it.

02:54

So make sure the two entries are checked

02:57

and make sure the prefix sheet titles, check box at the bottom

03:00

is unchecked

03:01

and click on the import check button.

03:04

Our two new sheets will be imported into the bottom of the list.
